First Lady Marks John Berry’s Start at OPM

As the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, John Berry is highest-ranking openly gay official in the Obama Administration.

First Lady Michelle Obama was onhand for an event recognizing John Berry as the new Director of the Office of Personnel Management. Berry, the highest-ranking openly gay member of the Administration, took his oath of office before a crowd of 300 people this week.

The Stonewall Democrats web site posted some great photos from the event, including the following photo of  Berry with Frank Kameny, one of the most important figures in the gay rights movement.

  1. Welcome back. I hope it was a good vacation, and thanks for coming back and continuing to share good news.

  2. Thanks Christopher! It was a wonderful vacation! We have two black Labradors puppies less than a year old, so it was their first time at the beach and our first time taking dogs to the beach. It was such fun! One day we must move to the beach.

We also discussed possible big plans for the blog. We’re big dreamers, so let me simmer on it for awhile, and details might be forthcoming.
